Davidson Housing Coalition is Launching a Special Circumstances Appeal to Assist Residents’ New Challenges Due to the COVID-19 Outbreak

We need to ensure that the families and individuals in our apartments continue to receive care and services during this unprecedented disruption.  We serve 27 apartment households at Creekside Corner and 32 at the Bungalows that rely on Davidson Housing Coalition for affordable housing. Children are members of 15 of those households.

 

Many our residents are service workers who have been laid off from their jobs in our community because of the health restrictions or will soon be facing employment disruptions. We intend to provide rent assistance for those in need. Please know that we will not evict anyone because of inability to pay. We plan to work out repayment plans for tenants when things return to normal or seek other beneficial remedies as needed.

 

It is imperative that we continue our operations to serve our clients, especially when many of them are economically vulnerable. Our staff works unabated. We have been in touch with tenants to make sure they are safe, and we have connected to neighbors who may need special assistance.

 

Already through the generosity of donors, DHC was able to provide $100 Food Lion gift cards to our households with children. We stand ready to intervene further should the need arise.

 

This is a Special Circumstances Appeal, outside of our normal yearly fundraisers, like our Holidays for Hope and Housing, Souper Bowl, and Summer Campaign. We recognize that this is a hard and unsettled time, but we ask that you please look at your budget and help us with whatever you can. DHC has been a dynamic part of this remarkable community since 1996, and the generous Davidson community is the reason for that success.
