ASHEVILLE — Hannah Casey and Riley Patton scored and the Davidson defense did its job as the Wildcat women’s soccer team earned a 2-0 win at UNC-Asheville Sunday afternoon in the final non-conference game of the season.

The Wildcats (4-3-1) are now 2-0-1 in their last three games, outscoring their opponents 4-1 in that stretch.

“Good, physical battle today against an organized, athletic team,” said Davidson coach Adam Denton. “For the most part, we matched the physical battle through the course of the game. It’s good to finish non-conference play with a win.”

Casey got the ‘Cats on the scoreboard in the 25th minute, scoring her first goal of the season off a header and Brooke Ditcham cross.

Patton struck in the 63rd minute with her second goal of the year, becoming the third Wildcat (joining Aleia Gisolfi-McCready and Emma Nguyen) to score multiple goals this year.

Davidson held an 8-2 advantage on corner kicks and led the shot count 13-8, including 7-2 on shots-on-goal.
