DAVIDSON, N.C.  — Paced by the senior duo Shamael Chaudhry and Jack Riazzi, Davidson picked up a clean sweep at home Saturday with 7-0 wins against Wingate and Radford in men’s tennis action inside the Knobloch Tennis Center.

The Wildcats moved to 5-3 on the year, winning for the fifth time in the past six matches since starting 0-2 on the year. Wingate dropped to 4-2, while Radford fell to 1-1.

Chaudhry and Riazzi each pushed their singles winning streaks to a team-best six in a row after taking straight set wins at No. 2 and 6 positions, respectively. Chaudhry scored wins of 6-2, 6-4 and 7-6, 6-3, while Riazzi, who remained perfect on the year at 6-0, picked up straight-set wins of 6-3, 7-6 and 6-3, 6-4.

The pair also teamed with David Hager and Yash Parikh in doubles to pick up wins. Chaudhry and Hager ran their record together to 4-1 after a 6-1 triumph at No. 2, while Riazzi and Parikh won their second and third matches of the season behind 6-0 and 6-3 wins.

Hager tallied singles wins of 6-2, 6-4 and 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 5.

The sophomore tandem of Axel Fries and Thomas Mason had strong wins on the day. Fries, who also won a doubles match with Artem Khrapko (No. 1, 6-1 vs. Radford) rattled of winnings of 6-3, 6-4 and 6-7, 7-6, 1-0 (10-8) at No 4 to push his winning streak to four straight.

Mason became the fourth Wildcat to reach six wins on the year when he picked up victories of 6-2, 6-3 and 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3. Those were his first wins of the season at that position.

Playing No. 1 singles was Kharpko, who downed Wingate’s Daniel Belsito, ranked 31st in Division II, 6-1, 6-2 and then earned a 6-2, 6-3 decision against Radford to even his season record at 4-4.

The clean sweep pushed the Wildcats team records to 32-16 in singles and 11-9 in doubles.

Davidson will next play host to N.C. Central next Friday, Feb. 23 at 5 p.m.
