If it hadn’t been for the pandemic, Cats of Davidson might never have gotten started. Working from home, Roni LaBarbera became aware of the large feral cat population in Davidson. She borrowed equipment from a friend and taught herself how to trap so these feral cats could be transported to clinics to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated.

Along the way, she realized that many of these feral cats were producing kittens at an alarming rate and this is when she teamed up with Amy Doughten, another Davidson resident, to work out a plan to foster and adopt these kittens.

In the ensuing years, they have spayed/neutered many feral cats and adopted out hundreds of kittens.

What started out as two friends trying to make difference in the community has evolved into a nonprofit organization with 501(c)3 status and a 5-member board.

Cats of Davidson currently feeds and cares for five feral cat communities in the Town of Davidson We supply food, veterinary care as needed, and preventative medications.

The work of Cats of Davidson is wholly supported by donations, grants, and volunteers.
