Scouting for Food: Feb. 5

by | Jan 30, 2022

You should have received a door hanger this weekend.

As the COVID pandemic continues, the needs of the most vulnerable across our communities continue. Once again, local Scouts will collect food from Mecklenburg County residents in their annual “Scouting for Food” drive to benefit Loaves and Fishes/Friendship Trays. The Scouts plan to build on the success of the 346,000 pounds of food collected at the 2021 Scouting for Food drive.

This past Saturday and Sunday Scouts from Davidson’s Troop 58 joined Scouts across Mecklenburg County in distributing door hangers with instructions for donating food. Simply fill a bag or box with nonperishable food items such as:

  • canned fruit (especially no sugar added),
  • canned meats,
  • canned pastas,
  • cereal and low or no sodium canned vegetables.

Leave out for pick up by 9 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022.

All food donated will go to feed hungry neighbors in need through Loaves and Fishes/Friendship Trays. Please join our local Scouts as we support our neighbors in need.

Please note, you can still donate even if you didn’t receive a door hanger. Online donations can be made at www.loavesandfishes.org, or you can text SCOUT4FOOD to 44321.
