LOCATION UPDATE: In light of the incoming inclement weather, the Town of Davidson is changing the location of its annual Veterans Day ceremony. The program will now take place indoors at the Davidson College Presbyterian Church Congregation House on Friday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m.

The program will feature a keynote address from Davidson College graduate and Army Green Beret Veteran D.G. Martin. The ceremony will also include the Hough JROTC and music from Sheena Geiger, Davidson College jazz musicians Dr. Patrick Brown and Sean Higgins, and the Davidson Day School band.

Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day which marked the end of World War I in 1918. The armistice that ceased the fighting was signed on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11:00 a.m. The tradition of having a ceremony on that date and at that time has endured. Armistice Day eventually evolved into Veterans Day which honors veterans of all wars.
