Davidson Housing Coalition and End-of-Year Possibilities

by | Nov 27, 2023

This has been a great year for the Davidson Housing Coalition. The Bungalows and Creekside Corner, both now wholly owned by DHC, are being readied for another twenty years of well-designed, inviting affordable rentals in our town. New programs are in place to support our residents, both financially and in the spirit of community.

Our program for home preservation, HAMMERS (Hands Around Mecklenburg Making Essential Repairs Safely) is being revitalized by the board’s commitment and broad community support.

DHC is also sponsoring mobile food pantries to come directly to our neighborhoods. These visits will offer access to free produce and pantry staples for all who qualify.

Be sure to visit the Giving Tree Village on the Town Green, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Davidson. It is a festive and generous way to celebrate the holidays with local nonprofits. We are especially proud of our tree this year with its ornaments created by the 8th grade class at the Community School of Davidson. These colorful ornaments are a gift of time and talent from the students, and we deeply appreciate their handiwork. Come by and take a look (and vote for our tree!).

Plus, Holidays for Hope and Housing is just around the corner. Be sure you light up your house with luminaries on Saturday, December 16, so that we can light the way home for our current and future residents. Over the past two decades, this event has become a community tradition that celebrates the winter holidays and serves as our keystone fundraiser.

Our mission to work with the larger Davidson community to preserve and create affordable housing options and to prepare families and individuals for financial stability is more important than ever.

Please celebrate this vital organization’s work in our community by giving us a Giving Tuesday donation at https://davidsonhousing.org/donate/. Your gift will help us help our neighbors. Thank you!
