Should anyone want to donate those items, please contact Marie Harris, Branch Leader, at her email to arrange delivery.

Our biggest need is Financial Support.  Our sliding scale tuition averages $50 per child per month, and our cost to provide high-quality preschool is about $300 a month per child (low since we rely heavily on volunteers).

Would you like to sponsor a child?  For a minimum donation of $50 a month, you will be giving your child the gift of education -- a strong start and the best chance for a successful future. We will send you a photo and update of your child each month.  For more information, please contact Pat Shaw, Director, at [email protected]

Our on-going surveys with kindergarten teachers show our children to be inordinately more prepared than other children from Spanish-speaking homes…

Volunteer Needs

We remain deeply grateful for the calls we receive every day about donations. Due to COVID-19, we are unable to accept non-monetary donations at this time. Right now we're serving our families primarily virtually, and what we're hearing most is they need help with mortgage/rent and utilities. (Thank goodness, CARES Act funding will assist with some of that for a few months.) And our friends at Loaves & Fishes are bringing boxes every week for our food pantry clients. Our Food Pantry is operating as a drive-through service on Wednesdays from noon-2:30 pm. To qualify, click here.

Ada Jenkins Center services look different than they did before COVID-19 – click here for the details -- and we don’t know yet exactly where volunteers will be most needed in the weeks and months ahead. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in learning about future volunteer opportunities.

We invite you to help us serve our families with a gift that's comfortable for you; click here to donate online. Checks may be sent to the Ada Jenkins Center at PO Box 1842; Davidson, NC  28036.

Directions to volunteer.

We need someone to do some contacting for The ODD Sock to sock companies – via phone or email.  The purpose is to reconnect with existing sock partners, make new partnerships, and  solicit donations from the sock companies.  The contacting would entail researching locations of the sock companies and the manufacturing location, keeping record of contacts made, the results of the contacts, and making appointments to pick-up socks if donations are granted.  All of this information would then be communicated to the lead sock wrangler or the person he designates.  For more information please email [email protected].

Volunteers may set their own schedule.

Events And Fundraising Opportunities

  • A2S is responding to meet the needs of the A2S After School Academy in Benin City, Nigeria by encouraging supporters to commit to the monthly giving program, called FaithFuel, for as little as $30 a month. At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity gives everyone power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act on.
  • Mother's Day: Make a donation to A2S in honor or memory of the woman who has made a difference in your life, and we'll send you a special, digital card as a gift for your loved one. To contribute, visit THIS.

We invite you to support us in other ways as well:

On September 17, click here for a quick and tasty way to support the Ada Jenkins Center by ordering from your nearby Panda Express restaurant.. Step 1: Order online.Step 2: Select Sept. 17 as your pick-up or delivery date on your order. Step 3: Input our unique Online Ordering Code (990191) and complete check out.

Please "save the date" for our special online celebration -- "A Show of Strength: An Online Benefit for the Ada Jenkins Center" -- at 6:45 pm on Saturday, October 17. We'll feature a message from our new CEO, Harold E. Rice, Jr.; a spotlight on our services in the time of COVID-19; and an inspiring story from one of the people whose lives you are changing with your support. More details are coming soon about the festivities, including: a week-long online silent auction with amazing prizes, one-of-a-kind "buy now" options, a daily 3 pm "premier" auction item, special guests, entertainment, and fun surprises. The financial needs of the individuals and families in the communities we serve remain great. We are counting on the funds raised through the auction and the virtual evening's festivities to help us continue our "pivoted" services: telemedicine, drive-through food pantry, LEARN Works Day Program, and distribution of funds for critical needs, including families' mortgage, rent, and utilities.

Can't make it to one of these events?  Please help us serve our families with a gift that's comfortable for you; click here to donate online. Checks may be sent to the Ada Jenkins Center at PO Box 1842; Davidson, NC  28036.

Davidson Housing Coalition is back to working in office Mondays and Wednesdays 9-5, and continuing to work from home Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please call ahead at 704-892-4486 to schedule an appointment.

Thanks to the generosity of funders including the United Way of the Central Carolinas, Davidson Community Foundation, and to the kindness of individual contributors, Davidson Housing Coalition continues to provide support to its residents through emergency rental and utility assistance throughout the duration of this time of great need and uncertainty. Please read below about our ongoing efforts.

Davidson Housing Coalition is in the midst of a Special Circumstances Appeal Campaign to cope with new challenges they are facing in the COVID-19 outbreak.

Many of their residents are service workers who have been laid off from their jobs in our community. DHC intends to provide rent assistance for those in need and will not evict anyone because of inability to pay. This is a Special Circumstances Appeal, outside of DHC's normal yearly fundraisers, like Holidays for Hope and Housing, Souper Bowl, and Summer Campaign. DHC recognizes that this is a hard and unsettled time, but they ask that you please look at your budget and help with whatever you can. DHC has been a dynamic part of this remarkable community since 1996, and you have been part of the reason for that success.
