Davidson Village Inn Named Small Business of the Year – Davidson

This update from the Davidson Village Inn Facebook page: Davidson Village Inn was Awarded Small Business of the Year 2021 by the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce!!! The nomination was based on the inn’s outstanding customer service track record (Trip Advisor Reviews & Travelers Choice Award) and the launching of Vine Society as a new business venture during the pandemic. Davidson Village Inn owners said they were “Stoked, grateful and simply humbled by the support our guests and community have honored us with. a HUGE thanks to Joy (Our Rock Star Hotel Manager), Sherrie, Vanessa, Debbie, Fernanda, Detria, Graham, Maria and Wanda (Our All Star Team) for their commitment to excellence and for grinding it out every single day! Thanks for getting us through a pandemic and positioned our business for continued success!”

In recognition of National Small Business Week, on Wednesday afternoon the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce recognized local Small Businesses of the Year.  The Davidson Village Inn was named the Davidson Small Business of the Year. Recipients for our neighboring communities included:

  • James Funeral Home: Sam James
  • The Welcome Committee: Suzanne Meyer
  • Lakeside Living Magazines: Joanie Baker

A panel of judges’ representative of the Chamber’s leadership selected the recipients based on the following criteria:

• Staying power: A history as a Lake Norman established business. Must have been a business for no less than three years.

• Growth in number of employees: A benchmark to judge the impact of the business in the employment market.

• Outstanding community involvement: Civic involvement by owner or manager.

• Business environment: Innovative management practices which produce a successful business.

• Customer-friendly quotient: Business practices which encourage repeat customers and provide a conducive atmosphere for service or retail trade.

Lake Norman Chamber members with fifteen or fewer employees were eligible for the award.
