Editors’ Choice: Meeting the Need

by | Dec 9, 2020 | Bottom Left Box, News

Since News of Davidson went live in September 2017, we have posted more than 2,000 stories and column contributions, and literally uncountable calendar events. Our stories celebrate neighbors, promote local nonprofits, events, and businesses, and share hundreds of community images.

To celebrate those three years of community news, Editors’ Choice hopes to remind you why News of Davidson counts.

It’s such a strange time, but we are heartened by news of vaccines that will slow the spread of COVID-19 and eventually shrink it to a harsh, for many tragic, memory. Meanwhile, we remain vigilant and continue to help our neighbors—from six feet away and masked.

This week our sports editor Jane Campbell opens the holiday season with our story from September 2019, announcing our new feature, Meet the Need—remembering that for our community, it is always the season of giving. And speaking of the season and giving, please light the way home for those in need by ordering luminaries from the Davidson Housing Coalition. The town-wide lighting, called Holidays for Hope and Housing will happen this Saturday, December 12. Read about this wonderful event.

We’ll repost these jewels through the end of 2020—now in sight, as is the prospect of meeting our fundraising goal! We are just $600 away as we move into December, so thank you to all our NOD readers who have made gifts to support the work we love to do.
